SPHINX is a dedicated endurance racing bar, for points and Madison races. SPHINX is a dedicated endurance racing bar. World points racing champion Cameron Meyer helped our team engineer this design.
Its unique forward ‘bend’ supports the rider in the ‘sphinx’ wide-aero position pioneered by the great Spanish track champion Joan Llaneras. This innovative bar combines a new UCI-compliant aerofoil top section with lower handholds from the established and popular ERGOSUM. The ‘wingtips’ of the aerofoil meet the upper part of the round-section drops, which are slightly tilted up. This allows riders to hook their wrists inside the bend, palms facing outwards. The vertical section of the ‘bend’ flattens into a narrow aerofoil section, and then joins the bottoms which provide a conventional round-section handhold for the sprint. SPHINX provides optimized positions for points and Madison races that alternate between level high speed and all-out sprinting.
Note: The UCI has expressed concern that SPHINX's extended reach might encourage riders to adopt an unlawful riding position. Read Using 3T SPHINX in UCI races before specifying your bike setup – you will likely need a shorter stem than you are used to. Follow the UCI guide to avoid any issues.
LTD is the full expression of ultimate performance by 3T. Expect no compromise – this is the best you can get. Top pros and super-demanding amateurs will likely prefer components at this level. Most LTD components are built in the lightest available grades of carbon composite materials. In the search for even lighter weight, structures may employ more highly evolved fabrication methods such as variable-thickness walls. All ancillary parts are also refined to the highest degree. For example, bolts are made of titanium rather than stainless steel. For athletes who ride LTD, only the ultimate performance will do.
